Village of Ryley Library Board

The Library Board has full legislative authority for the provision of library service in the municipality. The Board approves annual budgets and has financial oversight of library operations. In addition, the Board determines service objectives for the library that are appropriate to the needs of the community and re-examines them periodically. The Board also develops policies governing library programs and operations in consultation with the library's manager.

It is the responsibility of libraries to guarantee and facilitate access to all expressions of knowledge and intellectual activity and to guarantee the right of free expression by making available all the library’s public facilities and services to all individuals and groups that need them. In order to do this we need volunteers to help us keep our libraries open and keep everyone reading. If you feel you are not qualified for this job just ask yourself these three questions. Do you like to read? Do you want to see our community have an active part in keeping literacy alive? Do you have approximately 2-3 hours a month of your time to donate to a very worthy cause? The Library Board will help you with orientation of the Board, any training you require and when possible access to opportunities to further skill development needed. As a volunteer position we do not compensate your time with monetary payment, however, we would like to offer any volunteer who sits on the Library Board to have your membership fees and any late fees waived for the duration of your Board participation.

If you would like more information or if you would like to volunteer with the Library Board please contact us at the library, or any of our current board members.
